Top jockey Yutaka Take posted his 2,500th career victory on the Japan Racing Association circuit Sunday when he won a special-weight turf race atop Into the Groove in Race 8.

Take, who stretched the mark to 2,501 with another triumph in the 12th race at the 2,000-meter Kyoto Racecourse, is only the second jockey in history to accomplish the feat. He was competing in his 12,140th race.

Of his 2,501 JRA wins, 196 are major titles, including 45 captured in Grade One races. Yukio Okabe won his 2,500th in January 1999.
