Keiichiro Fukabori turned a two-stroke deficit into a one-stroke lead Saturday by equaling the day's low of 5-under-par 65 heading into the final round of the Nippon Series JT Cup.

Fukabori finished with a 54-hole total of 11-under 199.

Paul Sheehan of Australia and overnight co-leader Hideki Kase fired a 66 and 68, respectively, for a share of second on 200.

Japan in charge

OTSU, Shiga Pref. (Kyodo) Teenagers Ai Miyazato and Sakura Yokomine won their matches in convincing fashion Saturday to help give Japan a 14-10 lead over South Korea on the opening day of a team competition between the two countries.

Miyazato, who won five tournaments on the Japan LPGA tour this year, beat Moon Hyun Hee 3 and 1 while Yokomine upset U.S. LPGA regular Ahn Shi Hyun with a 5 and 4 rout at Otsu Country Club as Japan won six matches with two draws and four losses.
