Japanese record holder Naoko Takahashi will not run in any marathons for the remainder of the year as she is behind schedule due to an injury suffered during training, her management company said Wednesday.

Takahashi, the Sydney Olympic champion who was not selected to run at the recently concluded Athens Olympics, had set her sights on setting a Japanese record in Berlin in September or in Chicago in October and had begun training in Boulder, Colo., from mid-May.

She injured her chest when he fell during training in June and was unable to practice for about three weeks.

According to her management company, she will aim to run at the Osaka international marathon in January next year or at the Nagoya international marathon in March.
