Makoto Sasamoto’s aggressive strategy backfired as he was defeated by two-time Olympic champion Armen Nazarian of Bulgaria in the second round of qualification matches in men’s 60-kg Greco-Roman wrestling at the Athens Olympics on Thursday.

Sasamoto, who had made a strong start in the first-round pool matches in a bid to improve on an eighth-place finish in Sydney four years ago, lost a 5-3 decision to Nazarian after the Bulgarian was awarded two points following a flip executed by the Japanese wrestler.
