KARUIZAWA, Nagano Pref. (Kyodo) Tour veteran Ko Woo Soon of South Korea shot a 6-under-par 66 Friday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the NEC Karuizawa 72 tournament.
Ko, who has won eight titles on the Japan LPGA tour, made three birdies in each half of her bogey-free round on the Karuizawa Golf 72 North Course as she got off to a good start in her pursuit of a first victory of the year.
Noriko Aso is one shot adrift of the leader after carding a 67 with six birdies and one bogey.
