Shinnosuke Abe drove in a pair of runs with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday to lift the Yomiuri Giants to a 5-3 win over the Hiroshima Carp.
Abe’s single to center at Fukuoka Dome allowed a pair of runs to cross the plate as the Giants snapped a three-game losing streak.
Yoshinobu Takahashi also drove in a run with a single to left as the Giants scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Yomiuri reliever Matt Randel picked up the win after holding the Carp scoreless over 1 2/3 innings. Brian Sikorski retired the side in the ninth for his first save of the season.

Miura improved to 3-2 while former Seattle Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki recorded the final two outs for his Central League-leading 12th save.

Chunichi starter Kenta Asakura picked up the win after holding the Swallows to three runs on five hits over 7 1/3 innings.

In Sapporo, Julio Zuleta homered to tie the game in the sixth inning and Nobuhiko Matsunaka broke a 1-1 tie with a one-out double in a four-run ninth as Daiei defeated Nippon Ham.
Angel Echevarria made it 1-0 on a solo shot in the fifth before Zuleta’s drive tied the game at Sapporo Dome.
Koji Mise (2-1) got the final four outs in scoreless relief for the win.
Yukiya Yokoyama (2-1), who gave up four runs in one-third of an inning, took the loss as Daiei improved to 7-4 in games against Nippon Ham.
