Shimizu S-Pulse on Monday named Brazilian Antonio as new manager of the J. League first-division club for next season.

Antonio, 64, will be managing in Japan's top flight for the second time after a spell in charge of Kashiwa Reysol from 1995, while Nobuhiro Ishizaki, who narrowly missed out on promotion as manager of second-division Kawasaki Frontale this season, was appointed head coach.

Shimizu fired manager Takeshi Oki at the end of the season.
