Japan's Takashi Terai defeated Yordavis Arewcisia of Cuba to clinch the gold medal in the men's 66-kg class judo final on Wednesday, the seventh day of action at the World University Games.

Compatriot Masahiro Takamatsu took the silver in the men's 73-kg final after being beaten by South Korea's Lee Won Hee while Japan's top diver Ken Terauchi took bronze in the men's 3-meter springboard final to secure a place on the podium for the third consecutive games.

Elsewhere, Hong Ok Song won North Korea its first gold medal of the Aug 20-31 event after prevailing in the women's judo 57-kg final.
