HAKONE, Kanagawa Pref. (Kyodo) Third-year pro Miho Koga shot to the top of the leaderboard for the first time in her young career after carding a course record 7-under-par 66 in the first round of New Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ladies on Friday.

The 21-year-old from Kumamoto shot a steady 34 through her first nine holes at Daihakone Country Club before cranking up the heat on a flawless inward journey with five birdies to take a one-shot lead over money rankings leader Yuri Fudo.
