Daiei rookie Nagisa Arakaki went the distance, allowing one earned run while striking out 12 batters for the win as the Hawwks downed the Orix BlueWave 8-2 at Fukuoka Dome on Monday.

Arakaki (5-7) gave up six hits and walked four in going the on 160 pitches in his 13th outing this season.

With Orix up 2-0 in the third, Daiei cut the lead to one with Kenji Jojima’s RBI double before Jojima singed home a run in the fifth to tie the game.

In the seventh, the Hawks went ahead on a six-run, a six-hit outburst — including two-run doubles by Pedro Valdes and Julio Zuleta — in which they sent 11 batters to the plate.

Fighters 5, Lions 1

Carlos Mirabal tossed seven-hit ball over seven innings and two relievers held Seibu scoreless the rest of the way as Nippon Ham beat the Lions at Seibu Dome.

Mirabal (9-6) gave up one run on five hits while striking out five for the win.

After scoring two runs on two fielding errors in the third inning, Nippon Ham took a 4-2 lead with Angel Echevarria’s two-run dinger in the fifth.

Kuniyuki Kimoto added a run for the Fighters with a solo blast in the sixth.

Both home runs were off Seibu starter Mitsutaka Goto (4-6), who surrendered five runs — three earned — on six hits.

Buffaloes 7, Marines 5

Nerio Rodriguez (3-0) gave up five runs over 5-2/3 innings but held on for the win while slugger Tuffy Rhodes smashed his 26th homer of the year as Osaka Kintetsu beat Chiba Lotte at Chiba Marine Stadium.

Oshima off roster

FUKUOKA (Kyodo) Orix BlueWave infielder Koichi Oshima was taken off the active roster on Monday due to a nagging pain in his left side, officials of the Pacific League club said in Fukuoka.

The 36-year-old was diagnosed as having damaged a muscle and it will take at least three weeks for the damaged part to heal, officials said.
