The United States beat Japan 3-0 to win its third straight game and clinch victory in the Japan-U.S. collegiate championships on Friday.

It was the U.S, team's second consecutive victory at the championships and 20th overall in the history of the annual best-out-of five series.

Japanese starter Junichi Katayama pitched into the sixth inning, allowing two runs, and the Americans added a run in the eighth to cap the scoring.
