Taiwan's Tseng Hsiu-feng wielded a hot putter to reel off five straight birdies on the back nine of a superb 6-under-par 66 to take the lead after the first round of the 60 million yen Belluna Ladies Cup on Friday.

The 35-year-old signaled her intentions early on as she birdied two of her first three holes at Obatago Golf Club but finished her outward journey on even par after dropping shots on the seventh and ninth holes.

Tseng quickly regained her rhythm and set the back nine on fire as she sunk a glorious 30-footer on No. 10 to spark her birdie rush before adding her eighth birdie of the afternoon on the 16th hole to sit one stroke ahead of Hiroko Yamaguchi.
