Taiwan’s Wei Yun-jye shot a 4-under-par 68 Friday for a share of a one-stroke lead with four others after the first round of the Apita Circle-K Sunkus Ladies golf tournament.

Teeing off on the 6,344-yard U Green Nakatsugawa Golf Club in Nakatsugawa, the 23-year-old Wei, who lost to South Korean Lee Ji Hee in a playoff in last week’s Suntory Ladies Open, birdied two holes against a bogey on the front nine and added three more birdies after making the turn.

Kaori Suzuki and Mie Nakata each carded four birdies in bogey-free play, while veteran Ikuyo Shiotani put together six birdies against two bogeys and Mayumi Murai scattered five bogeys against a bogey to share the lead.
