Hirofumi Miyase on Friday carded nine birdies on his way to closing on a course-record 9-under-par 62 -- matching his 1993 personal best -- and a total of 12-under 130, claiming the lead midway through the Tsuruya Open.

Miyase capped his bogey-free round with three consecutive birdies on Nos. 15-17 at the Sports Shinko Country Club to take a four-stroke advantage over Takashi Kanemoto.

Round suspended

MURE, Kagawa Pref. (Kyodo) Rie Mitsuhashi fired a 5-under-par 67 to take a one-shot lead among those who completed the first round of the darkness-suspended Katokichi Queens on Friday.

Lee Ji Hee of South Korea, who is bidding to clinch her third consecutive title in as many weeks, had one hole remaining and was at 6-under 66 in the round in which 57 players failed to finish.
