Atsushi Nishikori set a short-course national record in the men’s 100-meter backstroke at a time trial race in Kanagawa Prefecture on Sunday.

Nishikori produced a time of 52.79 seconds to shave 0.04 seconds off the time of previous record holder Tomomi Morita.

Daisuke Hosokawa and Ryo Takayasu also set new domestic marks with times of 49.12 and 51.55 in the 100-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly, respectively.
