The Orix BlueWave have acquired Chicago Cubs outfielder Roosevelt Brown and Colorado Rockies infielder Jose Ortiz, club owner Yutaka Okazoe said Friday.

"I've already decided on the two players. They have some decent stats. If we can pull the core of our lineup together, we won't continue to be called 'the non-hitting Orix team' next season," Okazoe said.

Both players are expected to add some extra fire power to the BlueWave, who finished last in the Pacific League this year.

Brown, a right-fielder who batted .211 with three homers in 111 games this past season with the Cubs, has a .251 career average with 11 homers over four years in the majors. Ortiz, a second baseman, hit .250 with one home run in 65 games with the Rockies during the regular season.
