Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki broke out of an 0-for-12 slump with a double for a run and an RBI single Thursday as the Mariners sank the Oakland Athletics 5-2.

Ichiro, who had been held hitless in the previous three games, flied out to left in his first at-bat against Erik Hiljus to run his hitting drought to 12 at-bats, but came back with a double down the left field foul line in the third inning and later scored.

With a runner on third in the fifth inning, Ichiro then slapped a single into center to drive in a run. He also grounded out in the seventh before being replaced in right field.

In Jupiter, Florida, Masato Yoshii gave up a pair of solo homers but also struck out three over five innings to earn his third win of the preseason as the Montreal Expos came back for a 4-3 win over the host Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
