Regarding the Dec. 22 article "Hatoyama one out of two on policy views": To be quite honest, why does a family with a monthly income of roughly ¥700,000 or more need a special child allowance? Again, it shows that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Didn't we have something like this some time ago under former Prime Minister Taro Aso, when ¥12,000 was given to everyone living in Japan as an economic stimulus?

Why doesn't the government come up with a better solution such as assisting those who really need it — those who make less than ¥2 million a year, for example? I am sure that I would not be the only one supporting that idea.

Saving money is great, spending money where it is needed is even better; however, wasting money the way it has been done in the past and is still being done should be a no-go!
