Japan is planning to export stealth antennas — a system already in use on a new Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer — to India, as the two countries strengthen their security cooperation, government sources said Saturday.

If realized, it would be the first export case under a Japan-India agreement on defense equipment and technology transfer that was signed in 2015.

The envisioned export is intended to prompt India to reduce its reliance on Russia for military equipment and boost defense ties between Japan and India amid China's military rise, the sources said.
