Liberal Democratic Party lawmaker Taro Kono tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, the Lower House announced Wednesday.

Kono, 59, is isolating at home, it said.

Kono, the head of the LDP's public relations department, was at the party's headquarters on Sunday, the day of the Upper House election.

He reportedly attended the wake of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which was held in Tokyo on Monday.
