Comic book publisher Kadokawa Corp. will hold a vote on 88 top spots chosen from hundreds of scenes in the anime and manga it publishes to promote Japanese tourism, Chairman Tsuguhiko Kadokawa announced.

Announcing the online voting event at the annual Hong Kong Book Fair on Wednesday, Kadokawa said Japan is among the most favored tourism destinations for Hong Kong travelers and that he hopes the chosen spots will draw more visitors to the actual spots featured in the titles.

"Some 2,000 fans from around the world have already cast their votes online in the last couple of days," Kadokawa said of the Anime Tourism 88-Stop Pilgrimage project, co-hosted with Newtype magazine.

"If you would like your favorite spots to be one of the 88 pilgrimages, vote now!" he said, adding that the results will be released by the magazine by the end of year.

The publisher carries a wide variety of anime and comic books ranging from affairs between young lovers to space warfare.

The book fair, in its 27th year, features more than 600 exhibitors from some 30 countries and regions and will run through July 26, according to the Trade Development Council.

Votes can be cast at animetourism88.com/en/. The site is also available in Japanese, Chinese and Thai.
