Japan Post Co. said Tuesday it will release a commemorative set of postage stamps if baseball star Ichiro Suzuki collects his 3,000th MLB hit.
The “premium set” comprising a sheet of 10 stamps and 14 postcards with gold and silver leafs in a special holder is also expected to contain photos of the milestone moment and will be priced at ¥5,900 ($56).
The veteran outfielder, who got his start with the Orix BlueWave before making a splash in the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees and now the Miami Marlins, was only six hits away from the milestone after Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
If he does it, the postal giant will begin taking orders from the next working day and commence delivery after Dec. 9.
