The Tokyo District Court has rejected a request from the son of a Thai overstayer to revoke a deportation order that threatens to force the teen out of the country where he was born and raised.

The court on Thursday dismissed the suit filed by 16-year-old Utinan Won to rescind his deportation order, arguing it goes against Justice Ministry guidelines. The guidelines grant special permission to remain in Japan under certain circumstances, such as when the applicant has resided in Japan for a considerable period of time.

"I'm really upset about this ruling," Won said at a news conference Thursday after the ruling. "Please, let me stay in Japan."
