Senior diplomats from Japan, the United States and India will meet Tuesday in Tokyo for trilateral talks, the Foreign Ministry said Monday.

They are expected to discuss cooperation on maritime security amid China's growing assertiveness in the South and East China seas, as well as the Indian Ocean.

The U.S. delegation will include Daniel Russel, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, and Nisha Biswal, assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs, while joint secretaries at the External Affairs Ministry Pradeep Rawat, Amandeep Gill and Munu Mahawar will join from India.
