More than 1,000 bottles of tequila allegedly containing 160 kg of liquefied stimulant drugs were found this fall in a container shipped from Mexico and stored at a warehouse in Yokohama, investigative sources said.

A 42-year-old Mexican company executive is suspected to be involved in the case, the sources said Wednesday.

The man was earlier arrested for allegedly loading some 1.3 kg of liquefied stimulant drugs in eight tequila bottles onto a cargo ship in Mexico and having them unloaded in Tokyo in August.

The man had a receipt for cargo items, including tequila bottles, when he entered Japan via Narita airport, they said.
