A surveillance camera near a men's restroom at Yasukuni Shrine that was damaged by an explosion Monday morning shows a man with a paper bag and backpack leaving the scene right before the blast, investigators said.

They said the explosion occurred after the man left the area, and the footage from another camera after the blast showed the man without the paper bag, and that a paper bag was found in the area where the explosion took place.

The blast, which caused no injuries, left holes in the ceiling and burn marks on the floor of the restroom. Batteries and a timer found on the floor were attached to lead wires, suggesting they could have been parts of further unexploded devices, the police said.
