As the data falsification scandal involving Asahi Kasei Construction Materials Corp. continues to reverberate, municipal governments have started looking into the piling work of other firms, too.
Of the nation's prefectural governments, Gunma and Shiga have launched such probes, while four others are preparing or considering similar moves.
The remaining 41 prefectures are taking a wait-and-see approach, saying they are monitoring the ongoing investigation by the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry. Their actions may depend on its next moves.
