Prince Hisahito, the grandson of Emperor Akihito and third in line to the Imperial throne, turned 9 on Sunday and is enjoying life at school, according to the Imperial Household Agency.

The son of Prince Akishino and his wife, Princess Kiko, the young prince is in his third year at a Tokyo elementary school affiliated with Ochanomizu University, the agency said, and catches bugs and frogs with friends after school.

During summer vacation, he and his family visited the National Showa Memorial Museum in Tokyo to see an exhibition about people's lives during and shortly after World War II, the agency said.

Prince Hisahito is third in line to the throne after his uncle Crown Prince Naruhito and his father, Prince Akishino.
