Industrial output rose a seasonally adjusted 1.2 percent in April from the previous month, revised upward from a preliminary 1.0 percent growth, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday.

The index of output at factories and mines stood at 99.3 against the base of 100 for 2010, compared with 99.1 in the preliminary report issued May 29.

A METI official said the revision can be attributed to better than expected production of aircraft parts.

The index of industrial shipments was also upgraded to a 0.6 percent increase from an initially reported gain of 0.4 percent.

The inventories index, which the preliminary report said was unchanged, rose 0.4 percent.
