After merging office operations in three separate locations in New Jersey, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., the maker of Subaru cars, is planning to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Camden, in the same state, sometime in late 2016 or early 2017, the head of the automaker's U.S. arm said.

While the Japanese automaker is expecting a local tax break from the relocation, some employees are concerned about the move to a place that is rated as the most crime-prone city in the entire country.

The relocation timeline was unveiled by Tomomi Nakamura, chairman and CEO of Subaru of America Inc., in a recent interview.
