Two Romanian nationals were arrested Monday on suspicion of robbing a 63-year-old man of ¥43 million in cash in front of a bank in Tokyo in April, police said.

Gheorghe-Aurel Strejan, 25, and Jan Miura, 37, allegedly stole the victim's bag containing the cash after punching him in the face in front of a bank in Setagaya Ward on April 3. They have denied the allegations.

Separately, Strejan has been indicted for stealing four luxury wristwatches worth a total of ¥2.8 million from a pawnshop in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district Aug. 12.

According to the police, the victim in the Setagaya Ward mugging was also robbed of a bag containing ¥44 million last December.
