Green Lord Motors Co., founded by graduate students of Kyoto University, will showcase its Tommykaira ZZ electric sports car to the Tokyo public from Feb. 1 through mid-March following its unwrapping in Osaka.

The two-seat convertible with an aerodynamic design is based on a gasoline-powered model sold in 1997 by a Kyoto-based manufacturer to enthusiasts. It can run 120 km on one charge.

The car will be put on display at Le Garage, an automotive parts company in Tokyo's Roppongi district. It was exhibited earlier in Grand Front Osaka, a commercial complex near JR Osaka Station.

The car was unveiled to the media Tuesday in Tokyo. The basic model costs ¥8 million excluding tax.
