Bank of Japan Gov. Haruhiko Kuroda has been named "Central Banker of the Year 2014" for his "bold and decisive" style of carrying out ultraeasy monetary policy, the British financial magazine Banker said.

"With his statesmanship he was able to pull such a bold move off in a way that restored credibility to the Bank of Japan and inspired confidence in Japan's economy," the Banker said Thursday. "As a well-known figure on the international circuit, Mr. Kuroda had the skills to implement the policy convincingly and also communicate his intentions clearly to the international community."

Since taking the BOJ helm last March, Kuroda has been implementing an aggressive monetary easing policy to help end years of deflation.
