Government officials reiterated Tuesday that they have urged the United States to ensure its military exercises in Japan using Osprey aircraft do not endanger civilians, amid public safety concerns heightened by a series of accidents abroad.

“We have asked (the United States) to make maximum commitment to safety and ease the impact on local people as much as possible,” Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters.
