The first official Hello Kitty shop in Austria opened Thursday in a shopping mall in Vienna.
Sanrio Co.'s Hello Kitty brand is popular in Europe, and shop manager Thomas Gottsbacher said "there are even people from Germany coming all the way here" to buy special exclusive items.
When the shop opened at 9 a.m., customers were already waiting. Gottsbacher said there are plans for a second shop in Vienna and an online shop.
