Fast Retailing Co. is aiming to open its first Uniqlo clothing store in Indonesia in May or June.

The clothing giant plans to open nine additional outlets in the capital as part of its bid to expand operations in emerging Southeast Asian markets, Naoki Otoma, group executive vice president, said Wednesday.

The first Indonesian Uniqlo will open in Jakarta in a large shopping mall now under construction. It will have retail space of 2,680 sq. meters.

Fast Retailing runs more than 350 Uniqlo outlets outside Japan and 23 in Southeast Asia, including in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
