Recruit Holdings Co. said Tuesday it will open a shopping mall-type website, possibly in March, on the expectation that the online shopping market will continue to expand in Japan.

Its subsidiary, Recruit Lifestyle Co., which runs travel and discount coupon sites, will ask retailers of such commodities as clothing, consumer electronics and furniture to open “shops” on its planned website, company officials said.

Existing Recruit Lifestyle sites have roughly 100 million customers annually, and Recruit plans to allow them to use points they receive for the upcoming online shopping site and vice versa.
