Mazda Motor Corp. on Tuesday launched its fully remodeled Atenza in Japan, aiming to sell 240,000 units a year in the global market.

The third-generation Atenza, sold overseas as the Mazda 6, features advanced safety technology and a new fuel-efficient system. The vehicle has already been introduced in some European nations and will be launched in more than 120 countries in total, including the United States, Mazda said.

The new Atenza, which has a fuel economy of up to 22.4 km per liter, will be offered at retail prices of between ¥2.5 million and ¥3.4 million in Japan.
