NEC adds 10.1-inch tablet for families


NEC Corp. said Monday it will launch on July 5 in Japan a 10.1-inch model of its LifeTouch tablet computer series for family use.

The 32-gigabyte version of the LifeTouch L on the Android 4.0 platform will initially carry more than 50 kinds of applications, including a security system that prevents children from accessing harmful websites, the major electronics maker said.

The model will retail for around ¥50,000, NEC said, adding it also plans to begin shipping a 16-gigabite version of the LifeTouch L’s 10.1-inch model for corporate use in late July.
