Aussie antiwhaling trio sent home

Three Australian antiwhaling activists, who were detained after boarding a security vessel accompanying Japan’s whaling fleet last Sunday, were transferred Friday to a ship sent by Canberra, the government said.

The three supporters of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a hardline antiwhaling group, had boarded the Shonan Maru No. 2 in the Antarctic Ocean from an inflatable boat about 40 km off southwestern Australia, the Japan Coast Guard said.
