One of Mitsubishi Motors Corp.’s four production lines at its mainstay car plant in Okayama Prefecture has been halted since late November due to slack demand in Europe and falling profit on exports because of the yen’s appreciation, MMC sources said Friday.

The Mizushima plant is operating at some 60 percent of capacity, which totals about 600,000 cars a year. The halted production line, with an annual capacity of about 130,000 units, had been used for turning out the Lancer and other cars for such markets as Europe.
