A one-stop trilingual website has been launched to provide foreigners with the latest information on Japanese issues, attract more tourists and promote new products.
Japan Portal website (www.japanportal.jp) was launched late last week by Kyodo News and includes press releases from local organizations ranging from businesses to government bodies in English, Chinese and Korean.
The site includes information on the March 11 disasters, the Fukushima nuclear crisis, immigration procedures and event schedules. It also has information on the government's Cool Japan and Visit Japan campaigns promoting pop culture and tourist spots.
Content is sorted by provider, topic and language. Users can also search the site in all three languages to find the information they need more quickly.
The website was launched under a project aimed at helping various organizations enhance their profile overseas. Foreign media organizations that have partnerships with Kyodo News can receive advisories of new content as soon as it is posted on the site. Their subscribers can also use this service.
Financial meets on Web
The government on Monday opened a website to promote annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank next year in Tokyo.
Japan will host the annual conferences and related events from Oct. 9 to 14, joined by finance ministers and central bank governors from the 187 members, the Finance Ministry said.
Financial chiefs from the G-7 and G-20 economies normally gather on the sidelines to discuss financial and economic issues.
