Panasonic Corp. aims to increase global sales by roughly 50 percent to ¥1.5 trillion in the business year through March 2016 by boosting overseas sales of refrigerators, air conditioners and other appliances, company officials said Sunday.

The electronics giant is hoping to increase earnings by strengthening appliance sales, given strong demand in emerging economies and Europe and falling prices for flat-screen TVs.
