The average retail price of regular gasoline as of Tuesday topped ¥150 per liter for the first time in around 29 months due to surging demand following the March 11 disaster, the Oil Information Center said Thursday.

The average price was ¥151.20, up ¥2.70 from Monday and the highest level since October 2008, it said.
