LAEM CHABANG, Thailand (Kyodo) Mitsubishi Motors Corp. plans to build a third car plant in Thailand to manufacture a new type of environmentally friendly vehicle, President Osamu Masuko said Monday.
Masuko said at a news conference in Laem Chabang that the new facility, to be located in the same industrial park in eastern Thailand housing the company's two existing car plants, is expected to begin production in 2012 and churn out 50,000 cars in the first year of operation.
The annual capacity of the plant is projected at 200,000 units.
