Electronics giant Sony Corp. and three other Japanese firms on Thursday established a new company to lay the groundwork for selling and distributing electronic books amid growing demand for digitized content.
Sony, KDDI Corp., Toppan Printing Co. and Asahi Shimbun Co. said the new company will come up with ideas for a common electronic platform for distributing digitized books, comics, magazines and newspapers via smart phones and other channels.
