Tsuneo Akaeda, a 66-year-old obstetrician and gynecologist who runs a clinic in Tokyo's Roppongi nightlife district, knows more than most about the sex lives of teenagers, many of whom come to him for abortions or treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

To his mind, pornographic videos and erotic "manga" comics, which are unregulated and widely available to minors, are largely to blame for the results of the risky behaviors he sees.

"I support tightening of the regulations (on pornographic videos and comics)," Akaeda said in a recent interview. "We are facing a situation that cannot be right.
