WASHINGTON — "Come and join us!" They are not inviting you to a party but to something more exciting and challenging — to be part of the World Bank and efforts to help developing countries unleash their potential.

Offering an open-arms welcome are Japanese staff at the Washington-based development institution eager to give a helping hand to Japanese youth interested in pursuing career paths in development-related fields.

The driving force behind the group, which calls itself World Bank Professionals, is its members' strong desire to see the Japanese staff at the World Bank and its affiliates — fractional relative to the government's hefty financial contribution to the organs — increase significantly.
