Fujitsu Ltd. said Friday it has promoted Corporate Senior Vice President Masami Yamamoto to the post of president starting April 1.

Fujitsu Chairman Michiyoshi Mazuka, 66, who currently doubles as president, had been looking to appoint a new president after Kuniaki Nozoe suddenly stepped down from the post for health reasons in September.

Yamamoto, 56, joined the major technology company in 1976 and has experience in personal systems business, including mobile computing.
