WASHINGTON (Kyodo) The U.S. State Department has reiterated its call for Japan to swiftly implement the existing accord on relocating the Futenma air base in Okinawa.
“We continue to think that the realignment plan that currently exists is the best way of reducing the burden on Okinawa and of maintaining our ability to defend Japan and to maintain security in the region,” department spokesman Philip Crowley said Tuesday.
